Newtons 1st Law

This week in physics we have been learning about inertia and Newton’s Laws of Motion. Newton’s first law of motion, also called law of inertia, states that an object at rest will tend to remain at rest unless acted upon by an outside, unbalanced force. Also, an object in motion will tend to remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside, unbalanced force. Inertia is the tendency to do nothing or to remain unchanged. Inertia is directly proportional to mass. This means the more mass an object has, the more likely it is to do nothing, and objects with less mass are easier to move. The picture below is my guitar and phone just chillin’ on my bed. Since both of these objects are at rest (not moving), they will not move by themselves. This is unless I move them, which would be an outside, unbalanced force I am causing. Also, since the guitar is heavier than the phone, it has more inertia. This means that the guitar is more likely than the phone to not be moved.
