Motion

In this class unit, we learned about kinematics, which is a branch of mechanics that describes the motion of objects. We learned in class that all motion is relative. This means that it is important when observing if something is moving, to question what it is moving relative to. I took the picture below while on the bus back to school after a cross-country meet on Saturday. Motion is a mind-blowing topic, because although the bus is driving on the freeway at about 45 miles per hour, relative to each other, none of the people on the bus are moving. Relative to the freeway, the bus is moving, but relative to other cars also moving at 45 mph, the bus is not moving. This picture relates to our topic, because it is about motion.
